Where's My Refund?

Once the IRS processes your tax return and approves your refund, you can see personalized refund information such as date return was received, dates scheduled for delivery and the date your refund was sent.


To receive your personalized refund status, please select from the two options provided below.

For current year refunds, click on: Where's My Refund?

To access your information, you will need:

  • Social Security Number
  • Filing Status
  • Exact Refund Amount

or Call 1-800-829-4933 (for Businesses)

For amended return refunds, click on: Where's My Amended Return?

To access your information, you will need:

  • Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Zip Code

or Call 1-866-464-2050 (for individuals)

When to check the status of your refund:

  • Within 24 hours of e-filing your return, or
  • 4-6 weeks after mailing your paper return

You should only call the IRS if it has been:

  • 21 days or more since you filed electronically, 
  • More than 6 weeks since you mailed your paper return, or
  • The Where's My Refund? tool directs you to contact them.

The IRS issued 9 out of 10 refunds within 21 days.

Owe Taxes?

You can pay your individual tax bill or an estimated tax payment anytime during the year.  To avoid penalties and interest, you must pay what you owe by your due date, even if you apply for more time to file.
